Iconbox

Iconbox

Windows is an environment in which multiple applications can run simultaneously. When you run all applications full screen, you can loose track of your applications quite easily. Using Iconbox you have all running applications under your fingertips.
Iconbox consists of two components: the iconbox itself and extra mouse functionality.

To make the Iconbox appear
· You can activate the iconbox automatically when you move your mouse over the bottomborder of the screen (see Options under the system menu)
· You can set the Iconbox as the topmost window (under the system menu)
· You size the windows in such a way that the Iconbox is always visible. See below.
· You can use a shortcut key such as Control + Alt + I (see the program manager help for instructions).

Extra mouse functionality
You can use either the middle mouse button or the right mouse button (mouse button 3 or 2 speaking formally) for using the extra mouse functions. This button is called the Q-button. Use Options under the system menu to change this.
The extra mouse functionality consists of:
· when you press the Q-button when the mouse cursor is over a caption of a sizeable window, the window will be resized such that a banner at the bottom of the screen will be free. This banner is the favourite position of the Iconbox.
· when you press the Q-button in a dialog, this is the same as pressing enter.
· when you press the Q-button in a other situations than descibed above, the window will be minimized (if possible).
· when you press the left mouse button while holding control on a caption, a floating menu appears giving you control over some properties of the window.

Keyboard shortcuts
· Pressing Alt-Q in the iconbox disables or enables (toggles) the Q-button.
· Pressing Alt-O in the iconbox invokes the Options-dialog (Options in the system menu).
· Pressing Alt-H in the iconbox invokes this help screen.
The three buttons can be accessed using the keyboard too:
· Alt-t = On top-button
· Alt-x = Close-button
· Alt-c = Show caption-button
Pressing activates the marked application.

Drag and drop
· Iconbox supports drag and drop: it relays the drag and drop messages to the application in the iconbox you dropped the cursor on.
